Prof Nigel Sammes has been awarded a Japanese Society for the Promotion of
Science (JSPS) Fellowship to spend the summer at the National Institute of
Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Nagoya Japan. The
Japanese government only offers 100 of these fellowships per year, and it
will allow Sammes to work more closely with his colleagues on the
micro-tubular solid oxide fuel cell system, that is being developed
co-jointly with the School of Mines. Sammes will have access to the
outstanding research facilities available at AIST, a Japanese National
Laboratory, and should mean that some very exciting results be realized.
