Ph.D. student Danielle Murphy of the Colorado School of Mines has begun her three-month exchange at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) during the fall semester of 2010. While at KIT, Ms. Murphy is developing ceramic microchannel reactors for use in fuel reforming of renewable liquid fuels for solid-oxide fuel cell applications. Her time is split between the research group of Prof. Olaf Deutschmann of Institute for Chemical Engineering and Polymer Chemistry, and the research group of Dr. Peter Pfeifer of the Institute for Chemical Micro Process Engineering.

This exchange is an example of the growing collaboration between the Colorado School of Mines and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. A Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed by the two institutions, formalizing the collaborative effort.
