Professors: Ryan O’Hayre and Neal Sullivan, July 2010

Through an invitation from Rector Dr. Björn Gunnarsson of the School for Renewable Energy Science (RES), CFCC Profs. Ryan O’Hayre (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department) and Neal Sullivan (Engineering Division) delivered their course on Fuel Cell Science and Technology to RES graduate students enrolled in July of 2010.  Continue from 2008, the three-week intensive course spans the fundamentals of fuel-cell operation to design of fuel-cell systems.  After completing the course, a number of RES students travelled to the Colorado School of Mines, where they completed fuel-cell research projects as part of their Master’s programs. Prof. O’Hayre is also teaching this course during the summer of 2009, while Prof. Sullivan and his wife await the delivery of their first child in early August.

The School for Renewable Energy Science (RES) offers an intensive and unique interdisciplinary research oriented one-year graduate (M.Sc.) program in Renewable Energy Science. The program is offered in cooperation with University of Iceland and University of Akureyri, as well as in partnership with a number of leading technical universities around the world. In 2009 the school will offer four specializations of study: Geothermal Energy; Fuel Cell Systems & Hydrogen; Biofuels & Bioenergy; and Energy Systems & Policies.
